The Guthan is an online magazine created and edited by me. We aim to come out with a new issue on the first of every month. Each month we agree on a new theme to base the next issue on - beyond that, everyone writes what they want to. We will never chose not to show you certain articles because they might offend someone. Our opinions are bound to clash with someone else's at some point. That is what the forums are there for - and why you will find the e-mail addresses of the writers at the end of each of their articles. If you dissagree with us, tell us - and expect a debate. All I ask is that you keep the discussion clean. The Voice doesn't mean just our voice, it's yours aswell. ~Lauren

Ok... so if anyone's actually still looking... we're undergoing some major changes around here. Hopefully there will be an issue by December. Heck, we might have a new years issue. But if my new plan works out (cross your fingers... and your toes) we won't have any more of these huge gaps between issues. So keep an eye out for updates. By the end of this month, with a little luck, we'll be up and running again. ~Lauren

This has not been a good month for me - and when I don't have a good month, everything around me suffers. I, unfortunately, didn't have the time I usually have to keep the staff members working or to search for new ones. As a result we had about three people working on the magazine and didn't come up with enough content to release this month. So, our issue on Discrimination will be released in July. That said, I am in search of anyone who would like to come on as staff for the summer. It's a great passtime for all you writers and photographers, and I'm sure you have more time in the summer if you didn't have time to work on the mag during the rest of the year. I'm perfectly fine with you only working for two months (or one) if that's all you can manage. If you're interested, e-mail me (lauren.rizzotto@theguthan.com) with some examples of your work. ~Lauren

HTML is out. I will not be releasing a PDF issue this month. There isn't enough material. We are badly in need of staff members, anyone interested should e-mail me (lauren.rizzotto@theguthan.com) with something obvious in the subject line (like "staff application") so I don't delete it by accident. I get a lot of spam. ~Lauren

Ok, it's up in html, haven't gotten it into the nav bar yet, though - so click here for now. Sorry, gotta get to class. ~Lauren

HTML is up, PDF is coming, sorry this is taking so long. ~Lauren

03/01/2007
Sorry guys, I'm trying to toss together an html issue for you. PDF will come out over the weekend most likely... but the HTML will be up as soon as I finish coding it. ~Lauren

02/05/2007
Aparently the e-mail form only works in firefox... sorry. I'll fix it asap. ~Lauren

02/04/2007
Ok, I think I got the e-mail form working. If you want me to e-mail you updates (guest info when we get the new theme decided, notification when the new issue comes out, ect) fill it out for me. ~Lauren

HTML is up, sorry it took so long. Still looking for staff, if anyone's interested, and if anyone has suggestions for next month's issue they're welcome. ~Lauren

Fixed the pdf, so you can read it. Working on html. You may have noticed this issue is a little short - that would be because we're really short on staff - if anyone is interested in applying, send me an e-mail (lauren.rizzotto@theguthan.com) ~Lauren

Just got the third issue up. It's a little early, so all you folks waking up (just as I'm about to get to bed) can have a read. Sorry, no HTML at the moment, I'll get that done at school tomorrow. The editor needs sleep. Edit: sorry, having technical difficulties, will fix tomorrow. ~Lauren

Happy New Year everyone!
Unfortunately, there will be no issue this month. Our third issue will be coming out February 1, so look out for it.
We're getting reorganized, changing our style a little to make you readers happier. The staff is made up of volunteers who are here to improve - so once in a while, as we learn more, we have to change things up to make it better.
We're making a few major changes to the way it's laid out and what's being written about, trying to be more appealing to readers.
Our first issue, I think, was our best, because we were writing things everyone could relate to. Since dA is our biggest audience, we're making the themes more art related. There'll be a section where we all write our opinions on the same thing, a section with reader feedback from the previous issue, and a section where we write whatever comes to mind (as we've been doing, only without a common theme).

I'm also in search of staff - understand that even as a volunteer staff member you need to be dedicated, or you're out. I'm getting more and more agitated with the number of people who volunteer for this project and then do no work. I'm mainly looking for young writers and photographers looking for a project to improve their skills. The theory being that if you already do this kind of thing as a hobby or more you have a couple hours a month to dedicate to the magazine.
We work out of a forum (because the staff is from all over the world), and you would be expected to log on a couple times a week at least so you can keep up to date on what's going on. I post updates at least once a week, sometimes daily. E-mail me if you're interested lauren.rizzotto@theguthan.com (examples of your work are useful, too).

We'll also be accepting guest articles and photos - I'll be putting out a call for them as soon as we get ourselves back in order.

Unfortunately, it seems our January issue is running a little behind. Sorry folks. It'll be out as soon as everyone recovers from the holiday and has time to get some work done. I'm sure you can understand how insane this time of year can be. ~Lauren

12/01/2006
The second issue is out in HTML. Check it out, send us your responses... We'll tell you as soon as we know what next month's theme will be so you can get started on guest articles and photos. Also still in search of photographers who want to be on staff, tell me if you're interested. ~Lauren

11/23/2006
HTML version of the first issue is up. It'll need some cleaning up, I know, but the point is it's now readable to those of you who have trouble with PDF. ~Lauren

11/18/2006
You may have noticed some parts of the site are slightly misplaced... working on it. ~Lauren

11/15/2006
By tomorrow the layout should be changed slightly, with "home" and "forums" links added. Beyond that, the coding is done for now. That doesn't mean this design is final, only that you'll have to put up with it for a couple months unless I get a lot of complaining. And all you writers and photographers, check out the contests page. ~Lauren

11/13/2006
Ok, so there's still plenty of work to be done, and we're going as fast as we can. Donations are up, you can read the magazine by clicking on the cover over on the left and the readers forum never went down^^ The members area could take quite a while to be put into action, so that might be a dead link for quite a while. Links is coded (any linking to us is greatly appreciated, aswell) and staff page will be up tomorrow. ~Lauren

HTML version

No PDF issue this month, not enough stuff to work with. As you can tell, we are more in need of staff than usual. E-mail me if you'd be interested in working on the mag.
